ANCAQ

Argentine National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention

ANCAQ is the agency in charge of implementing the Chemical Weapons Convention within the territory of the Argentine Republic.

This Convention prohibits the development, production, storage and use of chemical weapons, as well as the destruction of existing arsenals. For such purpose, it sets forth a control system based on statements and mandatory inspections regarding substances and facilities that may have a dual use.

The National Authority was established in 1997 as an Inter-Ministerial Commission, made up of a Board comprising the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, as well as an Executive Secretariat, with its headquarters at the latter Ministry.
